Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service are committed to mainstreaming equality and diversity.
Part of the legal requirements with which we need to comply is the Race, Disability and Gender Equality Duties. These Duties require all public services to consult with employees and stakeholders, to promote equality and eliminate discrimination.
An essential element of the Equality Duties is the requirement to undertake Equality Impact Assessments (EIA's). This involves screening all our policies and procedures for anything that may discriminate against any group or groups of people. The requirement to Equality Impact Assess is also part of achieving level 3 of the Equality Standard for Local Government.
Within Tyne and Wear Fire and rescue service we assess impact on all of our policies, practices, services and procedures against all six strands of equality.
Please find attached our current versions of relevant documents below.
A full review of the EIA process within Tyne and Wear Fire and rescue service is currently being undertaken and therefore this section will be updated accordingly.
