The FOI Act is enforced by the Information Commissioner.
The FOI Act places two main duties on Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Authority: -
- To adopt and maintain a publication scheme which must be approved by the Information Commissioner
- To deal with individual requests for information
You can make a written request for information held by Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Authority that is not already published elsewhere, and is not exempt under the FOI Act. This is known as the general right of access to information.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Authority’s Publication Scheme aims to provide as much information about us as possible. We have also made a commitment to openness to provide, as far as possible, information not currently covered by our publication scheme.

Exemptions
Some information may fall under one of the exemptions under the Act and therefore may not be released.
Charges
In most cases, information will be supplied free of charge. However, a charge may be applicable to some information, particularly for paper copies sent out by post. Details of any charges are outlined in our Information Charging Policy and you will also be advised of costs before any information is sent to you.
When will I get a reply?
Your completed form will be processed and the information will be sent directly to you at the postal or e-mail (if appropriate) address you have supplied.
We aim to despatch the information as soon as possible and in any case within 20 working days of receiving your completed form. If we have not responded to your request within this time, please contact our Freedom of Information Officer:
