Education

Education is the strategy we use to try and deliver long-term benefit to the local community.

Educational advice is offered to businesses and the community to inform them of the precautions, which can be taken to reduce their risk  from the dangers of deliberate fires.

Many deliberate fires are as a result of poor security and/or waste management, and this message is highlighted to businesses and the local community.

Fires in school buildings often follow indicator fires in external bins or toilets within the premises. When such fires are identified, schools are visited to deliver an educational input to the students with regard to the dangers and consequences of deliberate fires, followed by a high profile presence around the area.

In conjunction with Prevention and Education we also have specially trained staff who deliver an education programme to Juvenile Firesetters.

We also spread our messages through education to our multi-agency partners.

Through education we encourage others to be a second set of eyes and ears, and will act upon any reports we receive. For advice about any issue related to deliberate fires confidentially contact your local Prevention and Education Team.
