Our Commitment to You

Between April 2007 and March 2008 we attended over 24,000 incidents. In Tyne and Wear, most areas receive a rapid response and we seek to maintain average attendance of 2 pumps to a building fire with the first fire engine arriving in an average time of 5½ minutes. The fast response helps to limit the number of fatalities that occur.

We also work in the community carrying out home fire risk assessments, conducting visits to schools and advising businesses on fire safety.

We are also committed to supporting and working with children and young people in the region through initiatives such as Young Firefighters Association, Prince's Trust and the Phoenix Project.
