Committees

Civil Contingencies Committee

  • To discharge, in accordance with the policies laid down by the Authority, the Emergency Planning functions of the Authority as required by legislation;
  • To ensure evaluation, validation review and revision of all plans in respect of emergency planning functions and to report as necessary;

 

  • To initiate and direct forward planning, pilot studies, seminars and similar courses at national, regional or local level in relation to emergency planning.

 

Human Resources Committee

To determine, review and monitor matters in respect of all personnel and training on behalf of the Authority.

 

Policy and Performance Review Committee

To consider and review all aspects of performance of the Authority in the provision of its services, in particular to:

 

  • Scrutinise performance management information and reports with specific references to Best Value Performance Indicator’s.
  • Review progress of the Authority in relation to the implementation of the Strategic Plan or IRMP.
  • To consider and make recommendations to the Authority on Policy and Strategies
  • To consider and make recommendations to the Authority on Best Value Review Programmes.
  • To scrutinise reports and make recommendations thereon;
  • To monitor the implementation of Action Plans arising from reviews;
  • To review the Authority’s role and work within the Regional Management Board.
  • To consider budgetary matters in detail and make recommendations to the Authority.

 

Governance Committee

  • To consider and make recommendations on the potential future changes in service provision based upon risk analysis and changes in economic, social or environmental conditions.
  • To consider and make recommendations proposed changes in specific policy areas following reviews or the introduction of new statutory requirements.
  • To consider and make recommendations on priorities for action within the Strategic plan and Integrated Risk Management Plan consistent with Authority objectives, national priorities and available resources.
  • To consider and make recommendations on the Authority’s register of corporate risks
  • To consider and make recommendations on proposals for major changes to service delivery.

 

Policy and Advisory Committee

  • To consider and make recommendations to the Authority on the potential for future changes in service provision based upon risk analysis and changes in economic, social or environmental conditions.
  • To consider and make recommendations to the Authority on proposed changes in specific Policy areas following reviews or the introduction of new statutory requirements.

Appointments Committee

  • Where appropriate, to shortlist candidates for the posts of Chief Fire Officer, Deputy Chief Fire Officer and Assistant Chief Fire Officers.
  • To interview candidates for and to make appointments to the posts of Chief Fire Officer, Deputy Chief Fire Officer and Assistant Chief Fire Officers.
